DALE'S FIRST DAY OF LAW SCHOOL

I don't want any of my other children to feel slighted by this post. It just so happens that Bill was working in Spokane this weekend and I went along, so I wouldn't be alone for the weekend. With Dale having an apartment there and he was gone, I thought it would be a good time to finish up a few projects I wanted to do to his apartment and spend some time with Bill. So, Monday morning, we were there to see Dale off to his first day at Law School. We were proud and he was excited. I remember the first day he started school and we waited with excitement for him to get off the school bus.

18 years later - -starting Law School at Gonzaga University in Spokane

On Sunday evening, Bill and I decided to go take a walk on campus. It is a beautiful campus. This is a picture across the lake to the law school building.

What a stark contrast the student center was compared to the Wilkenson Center at BYU. The building was named after Bing Crosby, who dropped out of pre-law studies at Gonzaga in 1924 after deciding his future lay in jazz.

Another thing Dale is going to have to get used to is crosses all around. This is the chapel on campus. As we were standing there, bells started chiming. I told Bill - - "the next thing that will play is Come Come Ye Saints" NOT

The next two pictures are just a few random buildings on campus. It will be fun to experience a different atmosphere than BYU but still have a religious feel.

Just to let everyone know, my first day of classes was great. They have us starting off running. I'm excited though for the challenge and agree that it is an absolutely beautiful campus.

Thanks Janet for the great pics. It looks pretty picturesque to me. I was just telling Dale that I liked the idea of a church on campus that I could stop in for a few minutes of prayer and meditation in the middle of a busy day. Sounds a bit like heaven.

Seeing Dale getting off that bus reminds me of days gone by. I remember how the kids used to get to the bus stop and count off to determine who got on the bus first.

We feel pretty proud of Dale, too. Go, Dale, Go! Show 'em who's boss!

The campus really does look beautiful, and you can't say that about every college campus, you are pretty lucky to have had TWO beautiful campuses.

I need to read your blog more often. I love Gonzaga's campus. Sometimes when I'm in Spokane I will swing by and walk around just for fun. I was in Toppenish not too long ago and checked out all the murals. They are pretty cool. And I liked the post on Hanford. I haven't been there since a high school field trip back in the 80's. I just may have to plan an outing there this winter. - Jeff
