VIRGINIA AND SWEET LITTLE ELLA

Bill and I went to Virginia over the Labor Day weekend to see Abbie, Scott and of course, Ella. It was definatly too far for such a short amount of time but a short time is better than no time. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We took a short ride on Saturday and saw some of the countryside but other than that, we spent all our time with Ella. It couldn't have been more fun. Grandpa was a little possesive at times but who doesn't love seeing a grandpa with his granddaughter? I had a hard time picking what pictures to post so I'm sorry if I got a little carried away.

This is what was greeting us as we climbed the stairs after we arrived.

We bought a crib for Ella and grandpa loved putting it together for her.

She is not standing alone yet but we propped her up for a few pictures. :)

HELP Grandpa, I'm falling.

We could tell she was going to love it from the start.

She is just too CUTE

I bought some MaryJane shoes for her and they made her look more grown up.

Grandpa was so silly with her sometimes. She loved it.

She loved having stories read to her and I was impressed how still she would be like she was really understanding the story. Maybe she was.

I loved going through her wardrobe each day and picking what she would wear. It was fun.

By the way, we really did go see some of the countryside but we took Ella with us.

Good Bye Little One We love you

How about I let you know when/if you ever post too many pics of Ella Bella? I swear, she's cuter than the prior generation! Loved every pic of her. Thanks! When I read Abbie's blog earlier about waiting for pics from your camera, I figured you'd post a few yourself.

When you ended with "good-bye little one" I wondered if you felt as tearful as I used to feel leaving your children after a few days of taking care of them. I remember one time especially (May 1985) Em and I were both crying our eyes out at the thought of me leaving. You two weren't back yet but mother and Martha had arrived to take over until you arrived home the next day. I was so homesick for those darling children. My friend Andrew picked me up at the airport in NYC and said later he'd never seen me so homesick!

Wow, she is getting so grown up already. What a cutie! One of these days I will get some beautiful grandkids (hopefully at least 10 years from now), but for now we will just envy your beautiful granddaughter.

I know I already posted but every time I check to see if the blog's been updated I see that darling pic of Ella greeting you two at the top of the stairs. I've already added it to my screen saver so I sometimes catch an extra glimpse or two of her. What a doll baby that Ella Bella is.
