About a year ago, I told Bill that for our 30th anniversary, I wanted a blue sapphire piece of jewelry. We almost always take a weekend trip for our anniversary but have never exchanged gifts. I figured - - hey 30 years is alot and I want a blue sapphire ring. So, he remembered and hunted for a ring (I love rings) and found a perfect one. This was on the counter in the bathroom when I went to shower on Friday, June 13, 2008 - - 30 years after he gave me my wedding ring.

We spent Friday night in Vancouver, BC and Saturday morning took the noon ferry over to Vancouver Island to spend the rest of our weekend.

Bill looked on the internet for spas or resorts in BC and found this one in Brentwood that sounded nice. Nice it was and right on the water front. What a treat. The next two pictures are from our balcony window. So relaxing

After exploring Victoria on Saturday, we drove to church on Sunday to the other side of the island. My gosh, the country was beautiful. So lush and green and the sky couldn't have been bluer. We stopped at this viewpoint and just soaked it in. Luckily church wasn't until 1pm so we had lots of time to be spontaneous.

We had driven about 50 minutes and stopped to look at the water and realised that about 5 miles across the water was the inlet where our resort was. So cool. As we worked our way up the other side of the island, we came to a town called Chemainus. Do the next two pictures look at all familiar? It was a town of murals like Toppenish is. The murals tell the story of the town etc. It was a quaint place.

We stopped for some breakfast at a place called White Spot. It is so interesting how you can identify that things are named by indians and the influence is very prevelant. We saw these White Spot restaurants everywhere we went. This was by far the BEST place we have ever eaten breakfast. We found one on Monday before getting back on the ferry and had something different from the menu just to see if the day before wasn't just beginners luck. It wasn't - - it truelly was delicious. Definately worth crossing the boarder into Canada for a good meal.

After church in Nanaomi, we went to a pier where there was a park and walked along the promenade. There were hundreds of families out and there was music and vendors in the park. Seaplanes were taking off and landing. It was just a beautiful day.

You should all recognize the Peace Arch that welcomes you back into the US from Canada and vise versa. That area is large and beautifully kept - - people actually go there for the sole purpose of picnicing and throwing balls and frizbees. So fun and entertaining as you wait to cross the border. Thanks Bill for a wonderful weekend.

What a beautiful vacation! I am so happy that you got to go all-out for the big 30th! That is quite an amazing accomplishment. I am excited for the day when Dane and I will be celebrating the same...(far away, but I am also excited for the 30 years in between!)
I love the ring. Way to go Bill! It is beautiful! Happy Anniversary, again!
Congrats Mom and Dad. The ring is beautiful as is the scenery.
Hmmm, lush green, bluer than blue skies, seaplanes, inlets...sounds a lot like Seattle! :) Glad you had fun!
What a great way to celebrate, and the ring is gorgeous (I like rings, too!)
I have never been to BC, or Canada for that matter, you were a great advertisement. :) I'll have to get H to take me sometime.
Okay didn't know you had a blog. Love it. I think I sent you another invite with a different email address sorry. Hopefully you come see us.
Nice trip blog Janet but not quite as fun as chatting with you and William on Friday.
Beautiful rings - what a peach of a guy. Me, I'm into cheap watches, as in the kind you can buy at the airport. Who knew shopping at airports would turn out to be so much fun in my middle age period??
