Little did I know that three months and 9 days later, we would be married.

As I was reading in my journal, I thought it would be fun to plan something and go on a date that night to celebrate our first date. I looked at Bill's schedule and discovered he would be home the night of March 4. I started making a few plans. Then Bill announces that his schedule changed and he would be working a 24 hour shift that day. Bummer!!!! It's just not the same to celebrate on another day. Not for your first date.
I gave the idea up but when last night approached, I felt restless and wanted to get out. I told Bill about our first date today and that I would like to go to a movie or something. He proposed watching BYU vs UofU basketball game in the media room. Well, at least we would be together. I was willing. It was a relaxing time and enjoyable game but as I read over my journal again this morning, I discovered that on our first date we went to Bill's apartment and watched BYU vs UofU on TV. (he also fixed me dinner that night)
So, I guess we celebrated after all and did the same thing as we did on our first date 32 years ago. What are the odds?
AND...........we're still living happily ever after - - -only happier.

How fun that you have that all in your journal. I will never forget the date that Dane and I met. Aug. 27. It was a good day. That day means just as much to me as the day that we got married. Happy celebrating!
i LOVED this post! that is so fun that unknowingly you celebrated the same way you did the first time you went out. so fun! plus i'm really digging the pictures. i am in love with your engagement(?) photo!
I can't believe uour first date was watching a basketball game on tv... good thing he cooked for you, or it might have ended there! Haha

Although I didn't record it in my journal I remember it well because I was politely asked to 'vacate' the premises!
You have me all choked up. I love to hear happy endings in a world full of craziness. So many thoughts...
1. the pictures are SUPER fun....thanks for taking the time to scan and share them!
2. Holy crap does your son look like his Dad!!!
3. TOTALLY laughed at his idea for a romantic dateiversary date. And even more funny...so consistant! Leonard would totally have suggested the same thing. Love it.
You are very inspiring. I feel blessed to be in your life.
Cute post. Sounds like fun to me! I remember my mom saying how fun it was to talk to you after your date(s) with Bill.
I love the pictures too. I remember when you were living with KP and you had just been dating Bill for about a month. I was visiting. You were playing the piano with this big cheshire cat smile. He had done something at work earlier that week that had been particularly funny and charming. And I love that my dates are basketball games. And I love your blog too.
You know, I wouldn't put it past dad that he remembered that was your first date and that he had it planned that way the whole time. He is a clever guy! You guys are great. Love you!
I love this story! And this is probably why you are still together, so easy going, so in tune with each other. Congrats on your date-iversary!
You had your first date on March 4....and you MARCHED FORTH together! :)
