Gingerbread Houses, Cupcakes and Nativities

There's been several things I've wanted to post about but haven't taken the time so I'm combining them all. Now that Christmas is over, I don't want to delay the things that happened around here at Christmas time. There was an invasion of people but some fun things happened and so let me share in pictures.
Bill was working a 24 hours shift in Tri Cities on Christmas Eve so we went and had pizza with him at the hospital and then on the way home the kids (Em and Fabio - - Dane and Bridget) wanted to stop at the store and get supplies for gingerbread houses. I figured it would help the evening go faster so Dane and I went in and picked out the supplies. They had a blast making them but Bridget with her art talent outshined the others.

That was the first invasion of the kitchen. The second happened while Bill did a 36 hour shift in Spokane over the weekend. We have a book called "Hello Cupcake" You should see some of the cupcakes. Well, Bridget, being the artsy person she is, went crazy over it and wanted to do some. So........we went to the store and bought the supplies we needed and she and Dane went to work. It was an ocean scene and here it is.

I have attempted one of the themes in the book and it turned out so elementary looking. It was way more work than it was worth to me. Bridget was having the time of her life. She is taking the book home with her. She already has several parties planned and the cupcakes she'll make for it. I can't wait to see more of her pictures once she's made them.

Last but not least - - - nativities.
My dear friend, Amanda, shared patterns with me of felt nativity hand puppets. I thought these would be so cute for Ella next year so I started on them by myself. I had four left when Dane and Bridget got here so Bridget helped me finish. She really doctored them up and they turned out real fancy. Sadly, though, we showed them to Ella and tried to play with them and her. They scared Ella and so we promptly put them back in the bag. Maybe next year.

That's what kept us busy during the days. I gave up on trying to keep some kind of order but as it turned out, we had a good time in spite of it. The important thing became evident to me - - spending time with the family and most especially Ella. It's been fun.

I can't stop laughing about how Ella was scared of the puppets. :)

I didn't know you had a blog...hope you don't mind me peeking in!

You have one of those families that I look and and hope to pattern my little family after. You are what Anne of Green Gables called "Kindred Spirits".

By the way...your nativity puppets look much less Picasso than ours! Very cute!

Ya uhhh I think Bridget should move her and we could be real good friends! She seems super fun!

And your nativity puppets look soo good. If those scared Ella, I am sure our would have freaked her out!
