IT'S MY PARTY

Have you heard the song with the lyrics "it's my party and I'll cry if I want to" ? Well I'm going to rewrite the words as "it's my birthday and I'll brag if I want to"! I have always loved my birthday but it's continued to be great with age. On Friday, when Bill left for a 24hour shift at Kadlec, he said "it's my last time kissing a 54 year old women. Tomorrow you'll be half way between 50 and 60 but it's not that bad, I was there for a year once." What choice do I have so I might as well enjoy it. He got home at 8am on Saturday and had my present wrapped and told me the plans for the day. Lunch at Whistling Jack's on Chinook Pass and then stopping at the Capitol Theatre in Yakima to see Billy Joel's "Movin Out" It was a fun day. There was no one outside the lodge to take our picture so I talked Bill into taking a picture of us since he has long arms. Bill is not photogenic at all and we both laughed when we saw what a good picture he took. It was beginning to snow and he didn't have a coat on so he wasn't into taking more pictures. We had planned to take all the kids there for lunch on New Years day but the weather forced us to change those plans. We love going to the mountains so it was a great way to spend my birthday with Bill.

I took a picture that shows all the presents I got. Three of the kids are students and living on loans and I was touched how they used their resources to make my birthday special.
I have a old manicure set that is broken and Emalei thought it was time for a new one so her and Fabio gave me a new manicure set.
Abbie and Scott gave me some place mats that Abbie made herself by borrowing a friends sewing machine.
Dale knows how much I hate sweeping out the garage. It was a disaster from the snow and dirt that attaches to it. He swept out the garage for me and pulled all the dead plants from my pots out front. (I hate doing that)
Dane and Bridget gave me a pair of shoes that Bridget painted on. She knew how much we love the mountains and so she painted Mt Rainier on them. How cool is that? To see more of the shoes she has painted, go to her art blog at bridgetsartworld.blogspot.com She's done some amazing work.
Bill gave me a new cell phone. My old one kept separating and it was just hanging on. The kids were so great to remember me and make me feel appreciated. Bill made every effort to pamper me. Ahhhh the life!!!

How can I blog without remembering the other member of our family -- sweet little Ella. I know if she understood it was my birthday, she would have sung to me. It was a week long present having her here and getting to spend time with her and take care of her. I loved it!!!

So....there you have it. I've talked about myself but want to thank everyone who made my birthday special through gifts or greetings. I love you all.
