RAIN RAIN GO AWAY

Bill and I went to Boise this past weekend to Melissa's wedding. We attended the temple endowment session with them Friday night and the wedding was at 9am Saturday morning. It was pouring when we got up Saturday morning and it was dark as night as we drove to the temple. We had no umbrella and so we knew this was going to be a day of adjustments. The wedding was very nice. Bill and I commented that it was probably the best wedding we had been too. The grooms grandpa was the sealer and his remarks and advice was so nice and very down to earth. Obviously, there were no pictures outside the temple because of the RAIN. I'm not talking about a sprinkle - - it was sheets of water. When we got to the luncheon at 11:30, it had stopped raining, the clouds were parting and the sun came out. It was beautiful and so the plans moved ahead to set up the reception in Lee's backyard. We had all but completed everything when we saw black clouds in the distance. Lee came out to tell us that Caldwell (20 min to the west) was having 30 mph winds and hail. You've never seen people move so fast and within 10 minutes it was pouring and blowing like you wouldn't believe. We ran the pillars under the patio and the chairs and tables were being blown over. We tipped them on their tops. The picture table and wedding cake had to quickly be moved inside. UNBELIEVABLE Now, poor Bonnie and Lee had to come up with plan 'B'. Have the reception inside. There were about 30 people there to complicate everything as far as space was concerned. Bill and I left to come home around 5pm but by then, they had the food arranged on the bar, the flowers repositioned at various places in the house and a room cleared to have the receiving line. I heard it turned out beautiful and through it all the bride and groom just thought it was the perfect day - - as well they should have. Like Bill and I said "today is all about Melissa and Pierson". Congratulations to both of them.

My heart goes out to all those who put in gobs of time planning the outdoor event!

My friend has a wedding business and she had a wedding this past Saturday. Her husband makes the backdrops himself and since it was sprinkling/raining Sat night he was getting more and more freaked out about his hand-made stuff. My friend, the wedding planner, says...Always have a Plan B.

Glad Melissa had such a great day. We are trying to get to her reception in American Fork.

Not only will the happy couple remember this day but so will many others! It's what doesn't turn out as planned that seems to stay with us and often becomes more memorable as time goes on. Hats off to all for their efforts to help and adjust to change.

All I have to say is: I'm glad it didn't happen to me.
