Since Ella was 6 months old, she's had a sleep sack to keep her warm at night. This past Saturday, it was left at a motel with no hope of getting it back. They send their laundry out to have it done and so Ella was to be left without the security of her sleep sack. It was part of her nightime ritual.
WHAT WAS A GRANDMA DO? I knew it would be easy to make but I didn't have a pattern. I figured out in my head how it could be done. Abbie gave me Ella's length measurements and circumference of her neck and arms. I figured I'd give it a try. I went to the store on Monday morning and bought a towel, some cotton fabric, a zipper and some bias tape. This would take maybe 3 or 4 hours - - I thought.
It took the whole day, with a few interruptions. Could I have bought one cheaper? - -YES. Could I have saved alot of time in buying one? - - YES Would it mean the same to me to put Ella in one that I bought, when I'm there Thursday night to get her ready for bed? NO
It was worth all the effort and I thought about Ella the whole time I was making it and figuring it out. I even asked Bill's opinion on a few things and he saved me alot of time with some of his suggestions. Thanks Grandpa!!!
This sleep sack will bring security back to Ella. It will keep her warmer at night. It will be a signal to her when she's put in it that it's time for bed. It will fill my heart with love when I see her in it.
Anything for our sweet little Ella. As Bill would say "we're coming Ella, just 2 more days" We can't wait.

you are right...it's much better when grandma makes it, then when she buys it! Very cute sleep sac, and...Ella couldn't have better grandparents!

I am still sick to my stomach thinking we lost the pink one. It meant so much to me beings it was from Ann... Ella will be delighted though to have a sleep sack once more. It's been a very rough three nights without it.
