A Few of My Favorite Things...

1. Safeway Select Chocolate Sorbet
  • only 120 calories per serving (and only 4 servings in a pint...it takes me about 3 sittings to finish one.)
  • way better than ice cream in my opinion
  • it was on sale this weekend, 2 for $5.00...the heavens were rewarding me...for something.

2. The Woodland Park Zoo

  • I've never ever been a fan of zoos. I think they're stinky and sad. But Fabio and I went to the Seattle Zoo today because it's super close to our apartments, and all I can say is...wow. Beautiful and lush, and a good variety and display of animals. They had it divided into ecosystems and it was super interesting. I didn't feel sad about seeing any of the animals in captivity. They were all clean and looked happy! Oh, and the best part was when a gorilla came walking towards us and a little 5 month old baby gorilla was hanging off her arm! PRECIOUS!

3. Leggings

  • Since moving to LA, I haven't worn tights, but I've recently relented since moving to Seattle. They make me feel old and very untrendy. Now the coolest things have come out. Leggings. They are basically footless tights and are very young and trendy. Since I have to wear skirts/dresses for work every day, this is a major boost to my sense of style.

4. Spring

  • The buds have blossomed and there is pink and white "popcorn" everywhere! I love spring...and Zyrtec.

5. Frasier

  • I have a Netflix subscription and let's just say...it's sad how many Frasier DVDs are in my que. Fabio and I LOVE them. We keep them on in the background when we're eating, doing homework, sending emails, etc. We've busted a gut many times over something Niles or Frasier has said or done. We took one home at Easter, and dad and I laughed pretty darn hard. I think we turned him into a fan after just one episode.

6. McCormick and Schmick's

  • Yes, we are using our $25 gift certificates and loving them. My favorite dish is the "Mixed Grill". It's a sampling of salmon, cod and a crab and shrimp cake with veggies. It comes with all these yummy sauces. I've never enjoyed vegitables so much.

7. Kindergarteners-2nd graders

  • I told the students that on math night they better "watch out" for me because if I saw them, I'd make them answer a math question and if they could answer it, they would get a "surprise". Well, wouldn't you know, about all of them kept "finding" me all night, and I had to pass out Hershey Kiss I.O.U.s for right answers to my questions. They served meat (hot dogs) for dinner and I couldn't be giving out dairy any time soon after that. For the last two days since math night, I have been inundated by small children holding out I.O.U.s in their little hands. Soooooooooooooooooo cute.

8. A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life's Purpose by Eckhart Tolle

  • Two words: Life Changing

9. Teacher books

  • I'm a nerd, but I love reading books about reading, teaching, discipline, math, or anything else that has to do with education. I love getting lots of ideas and making plans to put the ideas into practice. I also love to be inspired by great teachers who write books. Right now I'm reading a great book about reading curriculum. It's called Day to Day Assessment in the Reading Workshop. It's looking like I may be teaching 6th grade Language Arts next year, and I'm TOTALLY using this reading curriculum!

10. Fabio

  • I have a very sweet, kind, selfless and patient boyfriend. I am very lucky.

Well...I don't know about number 10, but for the rest I enjoy the same things! Those are all fun things....the zoo was amazing. Emalei had a good time. I was about to leave Emalei at the zoo with mother gorilla because they seemed to get along very well...
