Gmail and the new "Custom Time"

I have no business writing a post right now because I have a paper due in an hour and I still have a page and a half to write and I have to make sure I've cited everything correctly. I ran across this though and I just have to post about it. When I saw this "Custom Time", I was intrigued and so I clicked on the link and it sent me to this webpage of testimonials from people who love using this thing. One particularly stuck out to me and I just had to share it with everyone. This is from Todd J., an investment banker:

"I used to be an honest person; but now I don't have to be. It's just so much easier this way. I've gained a lot of productivity by not having to think about doing the 'right' thing."

Thank you Todd. This guy leaves me speechless. I really don't know what to say about him. In fact, as I just typed that last line, the whole thing seemed a little too good to be true. It seemed a little bit like it was made up. This then led me to remember what today is: April Fools Day. It will be interesting to see if it is. Take this FAQ for example:

How come I only get ten?

Our researchers have concluded that allowing each person more than ten pre-dated emails per year would cause people to lose faith in the accuracy of time, thus rendering the feature useless.

Their findings:

N = Total emails sent
P = Probability that user believes the time stamp
φ = The Golden Ratio
L = Average life expectancy

I just can't see Google actually paying people to figure out whether or not this will mess with people's faith in the accuracy of time. Well, its good for a laugh. Happy April 1st!! :)

I'm a little "confusado" !! Does the first story have anything to do with the second? I didn't get the correlation between the two. Help me out here. I feel stupid. Does the man not wanting to be honest have something to do with goggles equation thing?

Yeah, last year, google (gmail) said that they would print a hard copy of all your emails and mail them to you. At first I was like, "That's the dumbest thing I ever heard." Then, a few days later, they were like, "SUCKERS!" Ha ha. The joke was on me. :)

Yeah, I fell for the Custom Time thing too. I went to send an e-mail to Abbie and I couldn't find it. So, I googled 'Custom Time' and a whole bunch of news stories came up about it being an April Fool's Day joke. Even before I knew it was a joke I still thought the advice was funny. I thought Google had actually done it, but was just being really sarcastic about the why and how.

Ya... I totally fell for it. I was kind of surprised because I thought, wow... people can totally lie now.
