This was our third year of having kids come to trick or treat. We never had them in Sunnyside and your Dad has had a blast having them come to the door since we've moved here. He turns on all the outside lights so they'll be sure to come and even turns on the lights in the back so they can see from the road as they're coming up that someone is home. We have tons of candy because "we don't want to run out" Not only does he give them candy but shows them their choice and lets them pick. It was a bitter cold night and so it got pretty cold going over and over with that process. When I told him just to give them a piece and not let them choose. He said "well, that's no fun"He would open the door and makes several remarks depending on the situation. Here are a sample of some of them. "OOOO you scared me"..... "You look a little big to be trick or treating - - how old are you" (to which the kid replied 10) Your Dad's response to that was "and you have a beard and mustache?" Seriously it was this big kid. On with the remarks....... "what are you? a princess? well you sure make a pretty princess"..... "let's see you're a ninja turtle" ..... "Janet, come here and see this cute little monkey" He was having the time of his life. One time he opened the door and the mother said "oh look he dressed up as a Dr." Bill hadn't changed his scrubs from work. What a hoot.
Well, one more Halloween behind us and a good time was had by all.
This could be my last post for a while. I feel like I'm monopolizing the blog. It shows one of two things 1. everyone is super busy - - - or 2. I have too much time on my hands. I know there are some things happening this weekend that I think we would all love to hear about. Share your lives.

How funny! I needed some cheering up after our conversation. Please don't quit posting. Look at all the comments you get! Way more than I ever have. Plus, we like knowing what's going on at home. We had 0 trick or treaters. Sad.
I love it! I could hear Uncle Bill saying all of those things. We love having trick-or-treaters too. I think it is Brent's favorite part of Halloween. Please don't stop posting, we love hearing what you're up to (even if you're not our parents!)
Janet,
My vote is with Abbie and Collette, don't quit! I love your blogs.
Bill, You know how I dig Halloween right? The only thing I do different is that if they are over 12 I make them sing Happy Birthday to me before I hand over the candy. I have yet to have anyone refuse. You could modify this for you and have them sing anything they want. It cracks me up that they are so desperate for free candy.
hmm...sounds like bill needs some grandchildren to play with. guess he'll either have to buy us lots of plane tickets, or visit us a lot.
William will probably only pay for tickets if you let him make the travel arrangements. Years ago he helped one of our nephews with some flight arrangements. In response, Mike asked what he could give him. William's response? "How about a ticket imprinting machine?"
Another time I called him for the same reason as Mike. When he called back he said: "Ok, here's the info in order of desireability" and then he rattled off all this info.
Lastly (and trust me, I could go on), before the internet he used to ask us to pick up ticket schedules from the different airline calendars whenever we were in an airport...
Get the picture? I think a ticket imprinting machine would make you set for the duration of his mortal life. But then, most airlines are going to stop issuing paper tickets. OK, you think of a prize to give him.
OK, just one more - when our mother used to travel she'd mention her idea to me and then make me promise not to tell William because he have her on a plane before she even knew what hit her.

I totally forgot to comment on trick or treating at the OK Corral - loved the pics and can just hear William yukking it up with those children. I'm laughing just thinking about the parent who commented on William's costume. And, here I am thinking all these years that he actually worked in a hospital.

Guess the connection between my brain and hands wasn't as coordinated as I thought earlier this morning. In the paragraph where I mentioned ticket schedules I meant to say COUNTERS, not calendars. Duh!
Also, in the last paragraph, "..because HE'D have her..."
OK, now that that's taken care of I can get on with the rest of my day.
