THE REAL THING 'SNOW'

We got our first real snow fall last night. It actually snowed Monday night but it was only a skiff and didn't stay long. It started snowing around 6pm and it remained heavy until we went to bed around 10:30. Your Dad is working in Yakima today so he left around 5:45 because of the weather. He called me at 7:00 saying the roads were terrible but that it was snowing heavier in the lower valley than in Yakima.

There is just something magical about a snow storm. It is so quiet outside and the air seems so pure. I love it. I guess the Wyoming girl comes out in me. I love it!!! Don't get confused........I don't like the cold.
It is snowing so heavy and the flakes are so big that you can't see very far away. These pictures were taken at 7:10 this morning.

This next picture is really not worth posting because you can't see. I took it from the back deck looking down the road. The little kids on the corner house were out all dressed up in snow attire with their tabogans. They weren't wasting any time but now that I think about it, they probably have delayed school or cancelled it. It will be a nice day- - - I'll rest better once your Dad gets home safely.
As you all know this is not that common for us to have snow this early and this much. It could be the beginning of a rough winter. I'm already glad we are flying to UT for the wedding.

Oh Mom, I'm so jealous. I wish we had snow. They keep tempting us by saying it might but nothing yet. I wish I were home.

You're right, there is something magical about a nice, calm snow storm. Especially around Christmas time.

I wish I could go sledding like those kids. I remember those days, but they seem so far away...never to return.

gosh Dale, the way you put it sounds so sad and disparing. Some day you'll be able to take your children sledding. Something to look forward to.

Boy, I'm with you Janet. One of my fav snow memories happened in December 1964. I was a freshman in high school. It started snowing overnight Sunday about eight days or so before Christmas. I certainly wasn't expecting it and was in heaven when we woke up Monday morning to what eventually became 18" or so of snow. School closed early for the holidays!! Could I just say it was heaven. The only downside was the upcoming Snow Ball being cancelled. Not that I had a date (only 14 at the time), but I was going because I had been voted the Freshman Class Princess. Had a new outfit and everything. (Still got my pic in the yearbook...) OK, enuf of going down memory lane.

Glad I didn't mention 'our' snow in the post I just made on AB's blog. Maybe 4-5" by morning but WAY cold as in 20 or so. Weather advisory re: ice on Sunday. I'm supposed to go to Palmyra tomorrow for a workshop and then going to the temple. Unlike my favorite brother (whom I assume is still among the living), I'm a wus when it comes to driving on snowy/icy roads.

Merry Winter everyone.
