12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS

Yep, he's done it again!!! Your Dad is doing the 12 days of Christmas for me. I think this is the 6th year now. This year he is giving me a plate a day. They are glass plates with a napkin to match. It will be so fun to have dinner guests over and use them. So festive. I really thought this year he was burned out but on Wednesday, to my surprise, it started up.

This is a little close up of two of the plates. They are so classy looking. He saw them in a William Sonoma catalog that somehow ended up in our mailbox.
DIFFERENT SUBJECT: Do you remember this fall I did the back splash in the utility room. I had seen it at a tour of homes show. Well, in that same tour of homes, I saw these clocks displayed in an office. Your Dad and I really liked the idea so I bought these $3 clocks at Target, ordered some vinyl letters and did another little "home improvement" project this Saturday afternoon. It was a bit tricky making sure the measurements were exact and standing on a ladder while reaching up but with your Dad's help, we did it. I like the way it looks.

Wow Mom!! That is so cute. I love it! That's so neat that you can look and see what time it is and then think of the people who are in that time zone. We're just here at our place, studying and trying to be productive. The place is a mess but hopefully should clean up nicely once we get the furniture moved in. :)

Love it. I saw an idea for using clocks as part of your interior decorating in a Pottery Barn catalog that I clipped for my idea file. I am fascinated by time. For as small as my apt is, I normally have at least two sources of time in each room, between appliances, electronics and regular clocks.

A++ William.

The 12 Days of Christmas remind me of something I'm doing this season. I've been reading the scriptural reading from that Family Christmas Scripture list I shared earlier in the month. After I read the passage for the day, I then read about that particular Advent day in a book on that topic I checked out of the library. For each day, there's a short reading about the day, followed by a prayer specific to that day's topic and then a short but meaningful Christmas story. Two of the recent stories have been very good. I don't go in for the sappy stuff and these are terrific.

Everyone have a lovely Sabbath tomorrow. I may be sliding to church (if I go at all) based on the weather forecast. I love being snowed in!

I really like the clock idea. It reminds me of like a Marriott or something. I've always thought stuff like that is cool. I guess it is the geographer in me.

That is really, really cool. Harold has to see this, He will absolutely love it, But again, it must be the geographer in him too! That wanderlust is in the genes.

Also, Bill!!! Nice job. What a great tradition and what an inspiration for all those other men out there that are lacking in ideas. :)

Boy, who knew that MFB would become the prototype for good husbands everywhere!

I looked a little closer at the names under the clocks today and my heart was warmed to see New York in my honor....

I hope the Stephen Paces recognize what an honor it is for their home base to be recognized as well.

FYI - it's finally snowing. I'd have felt cheated if we didn't get at least 5-6" out of a storm that we were advised would be measured in feet, not inches. At the same time, the ice is very serious and the winds will be speeding up as the day goes on. I feel so blessed to have a warm and comfortable home all decked out in Christmas cheer from which to enjoy it.
