Hello Everyone! This is an exciting day because Dane and I decided to post something, making this my first post on the Smith Family Blogspot ever! We have been having a lot of fun over the last several weeks getting ready for the wedding. As December 28 draws nearer, everything is starting to feel a little more real. We are so excited! The count-down is officially down to 12 days!
Last night we took a trip to IKEA to make final decisions on
some furniture we have been looking at for our house. (Buying furniture made this all feel so real!)

This is a picture of a chair that we ended up buying last night. We found 2 matching ones in the "as-is" section (marked down section) for a discounted price. There is nothing wrong with the chairs, but the boxes that they had been shipped in were pretty beaten up so they couldn't be sold at full price. They are pretty comfortable to sit in. Don't take our word for it though, you will just have to come visit us and see for yourselves. There are a few other great things that we have picked out and will be picking up later. For all of you who have not been to IKEA, it is a well-oiled-machine. All the furniture, with the exception of couches, come in as pieces in boxes that you take home and assemble yourself. This is a great thing for us, because now the idea of moving a ton of furniture into our house with only our little car and maybe a friend's truck totally seems possible.
Other final preparations are going really well. We are pretty much done with much thanks to our wonderful families...I think most of the stress has been carried by our mothers...THANK YOU!!! My dress is ready, the flowers, food and cake are ordered, announcements sent out and RSVP's are almost all in. Also, Dane got a haircut this week and wanted to show it off for everyone--doesn't he look handsome?!

Hi Bridget (and Dane too),
I love seeing pics of what people are buying or making. I've only been to Ikea once in my whole life and that was in Canada years ago. I may have even been with Emalei. (Toronto used to be our temple district and I made many trips to that fair city.) We don't have any Ikea stores close by. Syracuse ain't quite the hot spot that Provo and its environs are.... But, it's beautiful around here in the summer time with all the lush greenness.
Of coure, that's summer. Today, we're looking at 12"+ of snow. That's pretty much come to an end and now the winds are starting up. It will be a very cold evening.
You are right - mothers are terrific.
Can't wait to meet you Bridget.
Aunt Beth
(Hey Dane - nice cut.)
Those chairs do look cool! Maybe we'll get some!
I guess this makes you almost officially a member of our family, Bridget.....making a post. I swear, the angle of the camera makes both of you look different but still, nice hair cut Dane. Oh, and nice chair. See you in 6 days
For some reason none of the pics would download so I didn't get to see any....I'm bummed. I'll try again later though.
We are getting excited for the big day too. Dane made an excellent choice, GOOD JOB DANE!
Since I saw the cut in person I can vouch for it. :)
hey, we have that same exact IKEA chair. with the exception of the head pillow. we don't have that but we do have the ottoman. and yes, it is very comfortable. we're huge fans of IKEA too. i was sad when i moved from chicago to portland bc there were no IKEA's in portland. until this past summer! yepee!!!!
