Homecoming at BYU

Hello again everybody! It has been quite the eventful weekend for me and Bridget. We obviously spend a lot of time together, because all the posts that I put on here include her. Not only that, but she has even made her own post on the family blog...she loves it!
Well, we had homecoming this week at BYU. Bridget and I first celebrated Thursday evening by going to the "Homecoming Spectacular" at the Marriott Center. It was SO amazing! Mo-Tab performed along with the BYU Ballroom Dance Company and other BYU auxiliaries. We attended with one of my good friends, Merrill and his date Karen. I know Merrill from freshman year at BYU. Merrill's roommate also came along with his date, Asenath. Now for the pop quiz!! Where did Asenath get her name? Tell us as much as you can about her namesake. The first to answer on the posting wins! I don't know what they win, but whatever.

Brad (Merrill's roommate), Asenath, Karen, Merrill, Me, Bridget.

The Fun is not over! Yesterday (Sept. 22nd) Bridget and I went to the football game together (sorry, no pics of that). After that we split up for about an hour and got ready for our "night on the town". I picked her up (as you see in the picture) and we went to "La Dolce Vita" restaurant for dinner. It was delicious Italian food that I would recommend to anyone! Then we drove in the pouring rain to Thanksgiving point for "Enchantment Under The Sea" 50's themed dance. It was the most fun I have had in a long time, and it was definitely something different to do. The music was really good, my date was the best...what more do you need to have a great night? Bridget and Me right before dinner

Wow, two posts from two different kids in one day. Let's celebrate. This is getting to be fun. Sounds like you had fun and you looked very handsome not to mention Bridget and how nice she looks in red.
You will for sure tell us about Asenath and the name origin. My guess is it means something in another language but I don't know which. Maybe deriving from the word ascension. Let us know
love you

Dude, if I remember correctly isn't that one of the wife's that Pharaoh gave to Joseph to be his wife? That is sort of a gutsy choice for her parents.

If Dale remembers correctly or if Wikipedia, via Dale remembers correctly?

Dane,

Sorry we didn't get to have you guys over tonight, but we are looking forward to meeting Bridget in a few weeks. In the meantime, remember who you are! (My mom always loved saying that to us, and now I think it is appropriate to pass it on.)

Getting a little sarcastic there Scott. You better watch your back. :)

I think you did more dating last week Dane than I have in my entire life up to this point!

Great pics Dane. I think it's terrific your dating time has such variety to it.

I just had a revelation: The reason I didn't have children of my own is because my brother's children would take up lots of my time and energy. And I've loved almost every minute of it.

Hats off to Dale for rushing right to the internet to figure out the answer to Dane's question. I found this on lds.org:

All forms of the word ASENATH in the Text of the Scriptures, sorted by relevance.

Gen. 41: 45, 50
45 And Pharaoh called Joseph’s name Zaphnath-paaneah; and he gave him to wife Asenath the daughter of Potipherah bpriest of On. And Joseph went out over all the land of Egypt.
• • •
50 And unto Joseph were born two sons before the years of famine came, which Asenath the daughter of Potipherah priest of On bare unto him.

Gen. 46: 20
20 ¶ And unto Joseph in the land of Egypt were born Manasseh and Ephraim, which Asenath the daughter of Poti-pherah priest of On bare unto him.
********

Can't say I knew that Manasseh and Ephraim were the sons of Joseph with his life Asenath. Very interesting.

Changing subjects, I've started hearing that rather than refer to the world-wide web as the internet, some are beginning to refer to it as the inter-web instead.

OK, off to more fun and games in packing land.

I want it to be known that I didn't get that from Wikipedia. I had that little wealth of knowledge stashed away in my brain. :) So what is my prize Dane?

From what I understand, you used a computer at Abbie's to get on Wikipedia. It's alright - - I was still impressed. I wouldn't have thought to go there. If Asenath only knew how her name was manopolizing our blog comments.
I'm just impressed with Scott and his participation. What would my posts have to be like to get your participation with my posts, Scott?
