I have gotten an [SPAM] e-mail, twice now saying I can get a "free" $500 gift card from Target. All I have to do is fill out a short survey. Is this for real? I would love a "free" $500"gift card to Target. I'm afraid to go too far filling out my information for fear that I might be creating a monster. Anyone, that can give me more information on this will get something from Target (at my expense) if I do indeed get a $500 gift card. :)

I don't know what to tell you. Here is my experience...You can't get too far into the survey before they ask you to buy something. That's fine, if you want to buy something. I usually quit there because I'm just looking for the free gift certificate:) So I don't know what ones are monsters and what ones are legit. I do know someone who got a nice plasma tv by filling out a survey and purchasing a couple of magazines (or something like that). SO some are legit, and some aren't. Good luck with that. I'll go now that I haven't helped you one little bit!
I would create an email address that you enter specifically for when you want to fill something like this out. Because most of the time you get in and have already entered your email address, they ask you to buy something and then you click out. But they have already saved your email address and are ready to send you MORE SPAM!
I would go to Target's web site and see if there's anything on there about this giveaway. The caution I always hear is it's ok to give info when you're the one initiating it but if it comes to you via phishing be very cautious. You could also google it and see what others may have said about its legitimacy. Something like "target $500 giveaway valid?"
Taget ain't my fav place BUT I'll come up with something I like if you win.

dude, don't take any of these peeps advice. it's a scam. if you actually go in and try, they make you fill out all of your personal info and you usually have to buy a whole bunch of crap (like a subscription to DISH Network) before you get anything. Even then I'm not sure if you would actually get the gift card. Avoid those like the plague!!
Thanks, Scott. I thought about it alot and decided it was a waste of my time to even think about it but I also thought it would make a good post and I was dang proud of myself being able to get the gift card on the post. :)
